As a puppy, Aja was running the streets of Los Angeles when a car hit her. She survived, but the vet couldn’t save her left eye, and it had to be sewn shut. The Brittany Foundation came to the rescue, and they asked me to foster her. Aja made her mind pretty quickly that she wanted to stay with my dog Sophie and me. She probably thought that she could teach me that being subservient and tolerant are qualities and not weaknesses. Over the years, people are inquisitive and often haunted with her picture. She was majestic. She was a kind and wise powerhouse that left a huge hole in my heart.
