The Cesar Millan Foundation - The Cesar Millan Foundation is a national, non-profit 501(c) 3 organization developed to create a balance between dogs and people through the teachings and philosophies of animal behaviorist Cesar Millan. Our Mission is to establish and fortify community humane education programs and curriculums, to promote animal welfare by supporting the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of abused and abandoned dogs, and to build a balance between dogs and people.  Please visit us at: http://www.millanfoundation.org

The Brittany Foundation - This is where it all began for Frank Bruynbroek. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care and placement of homeless dogs. The dogs are shown at our weekly adoption program at our sanctuary in Agua Dulce. Please check our schedule for adoption events. While in our care, the dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given a thorough check-up along with any necessary medical attention. Our dogs are also microchipped.  If dogs are not adopted, they will live at the sanctuary for their entire life. We run a no kill facility. http://www.brittanyfoundationonline.org

Pilots N Paws - Founded in 2008 by animal-lover Debi Boies and pilot Jon Wehrenberg. The idea first took flight when Jon agreed to help Debi by flying a rescued Doberman from Florida to South Carolina, to save the dog’s life. The trip was a success and the two brainstormed on how to rescue other animals. Spay/Neuter campaigns in parts of the country were working, while in others parts, primarily in the south, pet overpopulation was still a huge problem. There had to be a way to turn a problem into a solution. Former pets were dying needlessly. They needed transport. The dream quickly became a reality when the website, http://www.pilotsnpaws.org was launched, to provide a location where private pilots willing to provide free transport, and people and organizations who rescue, shelter or foster animals, could connect to save lives. Today the organization has 3168 pilot volunteers and 10,551 volunteers. Each year, the volunteers of Pilots N Paws save thousands of lives. Those lives come in the form of any animal that can be transported using a plane. Dogs, cats, pigs, reptiles and rabbits are just a few who have taken one of our flights. Pet overpopulation is a disturbing problem in the United States. More than 4 million no-longer-wanted pets are euthanized each year. While spay/neuter programs have worked to decrease domestic animal populations in some parts of the country, other areas are considered high-kill. A staggering 70% of dogs that enter shelters in the southern part of the country are euthanized. Until now, there have been few options for these innocent victims. Pilots N Paws is helping to change that. http://pilotsnpaws.org/

Pilots N Paws Canada - Pilots N Paws Canada launched June 15, 2012 with Gini Green as the Founder. They are an army of volunteers working together across Canada to facilitate air transportation of rescue, homeless and abused animals from Canadian rescues groups to areas where they get a second chance at a better life. A 100% volunteer run non-profit charity organization. Through the Forum board those involved exchange pertinent information about transport requirements so that they can set up an entire transport, sharing all information necessary to successfully accomplish the goal, as well as allow others to volunteer their skills if they see help is needed in their region. It often takes many hands to move an animal from one spot to another, all aspects being equally important to maintain the safety and well-being of those animals. Volunteer pilots, ground transport, fosters, all play a part in the network to help rescue organizations transport animals in the most cost effective, safe and efficient way possible. http://www.pilotsnpawscanada.com

Pets for Vets - Dedicated to supporting veterans and providing a second chance for shelter pets by rescuing, training and pairing them with America’s veterans who could benefit from a companion animal. Our goal is to help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by pairing them with a shelter dog that is specially selected to match his or her personality. Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the dogs and teach them good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle. Training can also include desensitization to wheel chairs or crutches as well as recognizing panic or anxiety disorder behaviors. It’s win-win. Needy shelter dogs receive a second chance at life while giving our returning soldiers a second chance at health and happiness. The bonds of friendship formed between man and animal have the power to ease the suffering of our troops when they return from overseas. Pets for Vets is a concrete way to thank U.S. Military Veterans for their service. Featured on NPR, CBS2 and CNN, PBS and the Pentagon Channel. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. With each veteran-pet match we provide the necessary equipment for them to start their new life together. http://pets-for-vets.com

The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation - Founded in 2008, by Nancy and Katherine Heigl. The Heigl's desire to end cruelty and abuse inspired them to create an organization dedicated to animal welfare that would celebrate the compassion, kindness and memory of a beloved son and brother. On September 23rd 1986, Jason was in a tragic car accident and suffered massive brain damage while returning to New Canaan High School with three friends. He died one week later in Norwalk Hospital and the family decided to donate all his organs to help others live. He was 15 years old. Throughout his brief lifetime Jason loved all animals, especially dogs, cats and monkeys and he lived his life extending compassion and kindness to all creatures great and small. The Foundation is his legacy. The goal of the JDHF is to eliminate the needless suffering inflicted on animals by human cruelty, indifference and ignorance.  http://jasonheiglfoundation.org

PAW Love - An all-volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the lives of animals through a compassionate partnership with our community. The efforts of PAW Love volunteers support the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center. We provide thousands of volunteer hours and raise funds for pet medical care. By volunteer dedication, we are committed to making a difference in the unacceptably high number of homeless animals by fundraising, fostering, providing education and workshops and training for youth and adults, and training for canines. Honoring the amazing human and animal bond that continues to make this world a better and more humane place. Euthanasia should only be an option for very sick animals or as a humane end for a beloved family member and not for animals that are homeless or abandoned through no fault of their own and as a result of human apathy, greed and/or ignorance. http://pawlove.org/

Animal Rescue Friends Of Idyllwild - Welcome to the ARF House, the little rescue with the big heart, home of love and second chances. We are located in the mountain village of Idyllwild, CA where we have been serving the community since 1994. A volunteer, grassroots, non-profit organization, ARF’s mission is to rescue animals that have been abandoned, lost, or whose owners are no longer able to care for them. We provide foster care until forever homes are located. Our animals are spay/neutered, receive necessary shots and other veterinary care as needed. Each year, relying only on the generosity of donors and small grants, ARF helps an increasing number of dogs and cats, turning sad stories into happy tails. In 2012 to date:  87 dogs and cats have been taken in; 59 adoptions; spay/neuters 50; average found and reunited pets, 2-3 a week (5 animals found and reunited the week of October 15th). Since reopening in February 2012, Sadie’s Clinic has seen 480 animals. ARF works to educate our population about the importance of responsible pet ownership, including the need for spay/neuter and heart worm disease prevention. http://www.arfidyllwild.weebly.com

Saving America's Mustangs - “If we do not act soon, America’s wild horses will be gone forever, and our nation will suffer an irretrievable loss.” - Madeleine Pickens - The image of the herds of magnificent mustangs running free on the vast Western range strikes a deep chord in the American people. The wild horse embody the qualities of independence and freedom that make America great. One hundred years ago, there were 2 million wild horses roaming free in our country. Today, under 30,000 remain. After years of aggressive roundups, the number of the wild horses in federal holding facilities around the country (41,500), now far exceeds the population of the horses left free on the land. I became involved in this issue three years ago, after learning that the federal government was considering slaughter as a solution to the unsustainable warehousing of our wild horses. Believing that the horses and American taxpayers deserve better, I created the Saving America’s Mustangs Foundation to offer a public/private partnership solution and path forward from the failed policies of the past."- Madeleine Pickens, Founder of Saving America's Mustangs Foundation, Mustang Monument Wild Horse Eco-Preserve, and wife of legendary energy executive, T. Boone Pickens. http://www.savingamericasmustangs.org/

Helen Woodward Animal Center - Not just another no-kill animal shelter. Located in San Diego, Helen Woodward Animal Center is a unique, private, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people. For more than 30 years, our no-kill Center has provided humane care and animal adoption for orphaned animals, as well as animal-centered educational and therapeutic programs for people. The Center is a dynamic, evolving institution that is an agent of change for the animal welfare world. Not only are we operating innovative and beneficial programs for animals and people, but we are teaching others around the world how to successfully market and promote their animal adoption and humane programs and stop the senseless death of thousands of animals. We’re not an animal shelter, we are an animal center. That means we turn away from the perception of the passé term “dog pound” and instead become whatever our community needs; an all-inclusive ‘center’ that helps the community’s animals, its people, and educates its children. http://www.animalcenter.org/

Bark N Bitches - I love everything DOG! I find them to be the greatest asset to the human experience. Life without my constant companions would be so empty. I do consider myself a "Dogaholic". I got my first dog as an adult around 14 years ago. I was with a group of friends volunteering in the skid row area of downtown Los Angeles when my eyes lay on an abandoned puppy rolling on his back in the park. "Is this your dog?"... no one responded nor could they care. I picked this dirty filthy 15lb. puppy up and held him close. Of course I couldn't leave him to such a bleak future. He came home with us and we named him Jimi (after Jimi Hendrix). If the truth be known, Jimi rescued me. My life and my world got so full, so big, so happy. We met all of the neighbors on our walks, went to the mountains for fun, and hiked frequently in our local mountains. Four years later, I was ready for my next rescue. Through a series of coincidences, Izabelle joined our family. She was found by a friend of mine emaciated, scared beyond words and surviving under an abandoned house after giving birth to 3 pups. Eight months later she joined our family. I became aware of the plight of all these homeless animals in Los Angeles, hence my rescue career started. They are my inspiration for Bark n' Bitches. Not only do I have this amazing Dog Boutique in the heart of hip L.A., but I created "Jimi's Angels Rescue" to continue my work to support the homeless dogs of Los Angeles. Through a series of divinely inspired thoughts, we are now a Humane Pet Shop. We went from adoption fairs 1 day a week, to 7 days a week as a pet shop, ALL of our available dogs were abandoned dogs that ended up in our shelter system. If you think you love to shop for your dog...Imagine how great it is to shop for everybody's dog!  Heaven on Earth! http://barknbitches.com

Heaven On Earth Society For Animals - Founded by Eri Kriteman in February of 2000, Heaven on Earth Society for Animals was built with an inspired dream: to create a safe haven for special needs animals that have nowhere else to go. Through the determination of its founder, board, staff and volunteers, the dream has been made a reality. Our mission is to provide animals with lifelong homes and the high quality of life they deserve, regardless of situation, special needs or adoptability. Our vision is to create a unified national commitment to bring an end to the killing of animals. Values: We embrace “The Declaration of the No Kill Movement” in the United States and believe that: All homeless pets deserve a safe and loving life. Sickness, injury, behavior, adoptability or circumstance are no reason to kill animal. Collaboration with the community is paramount to bringing real positive change to how animal adoptions are processed. http://heavenlypets.org/

Pets 90210 - The Pet Care Foundation - The Pet Care Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the advocacy of shelter animals in Los Angeles City and County Shelters. We have added new programming to expand our efforts, and your support is essential. http://www.pets90210.org/

The Greg Biffle Foundation - Founded in 2005 by Greg and Nicole Biffle to create awareness and serve as advocates to improve the well-being of animals by engaging the power and passion of the motor sports industry.  Since its creation, The Greg Biffle Foundation has awarded grants to over 500 humane societies and animal shelters from coast to coast. Representing the best interests of the animals and using the full potential of each participant's involvement is the purpose for the Greg Biffle Foundation. Our mission is specifically intended to demonstrate our focus. Through partnerships and activities to come, we intend to draw together the best efforts of all animal lovers. Greg teamed up with additional NASCAR drivers to help support Spay Day USA, a national campaign of the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to promote the life-saving benefits of spay/neuter. Greg believes that aggressive spay/neuter projects and progressive legislation in the many areas of the northeast have addressed the pet overpopulation problem and hope more states learn from their efforts on behalf of animal control and emulate their success over time. Greg and Nicole have three dogs – Foster and his daughter Gracie, a pair of Boxers who are very familiar to race fans across the country. Foster even graced the front of a Milk Bones box in 2004. The latest addition is Savannah, who was rescued from a Georgia shelter. The Biffle’s have fostered several dogs that have since been placed in loving homes. http://www.gregbifflefoundation.com

Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) - An incorporated, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of homeless Labrador Retrievers in the Southeast region. LFS relies solely on donations, fundraising events and adoption fees to function and continue saving and placing homeless Labradors. We do not receive any state or federal funding. LFS is an all volunteer organization of people who give their time, effort, and love for labs to protect and save them from the perils of pet over-population and irresponsible pet ownership. Our ultimate goal is to help these dogs find new, loving, forever homes. The Labradors in our program receive veterinary care and temperament testing before being eligible for adoption.  Since our goal is to place our Labradors in forever homes, we consider each Labrador’s history (if any), temperament, training and other skills, and energy level. We then assess each adopting family’s preferences, home environment, lifestyle, and personality in order to make the best possible match for a successful adoption. Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Retriever mixes are the most popular family pets in the country. Unfortunately, this statistic means that they are the most likely to end up in the animal shelters as strays or unwanted pets. Perfectly healthy, sweet- tempered Labs are put to sleep everyday, sometimes without the benefit of a painless euthanasia drug, simply because there are not enough good homes for them. http://labradorfriends.com

The Humane Society of the Desert - It began with a simple concept... help those who cannot help themselves. To hundreds of abandoned, neglected and abused dogs and cats, this became more than a simple concept - it became their second chance at life. This simple premise, shared by a few dedicated men and women, created The Humane Society of the Desert. Its humble beginnings are far removed from its present status -- Southern California's largest no-kill animal sanctuary. Each year, more than 8 million dogs and cats are euthanized. County run shelters cannot maintain a large animal population, thus healthy dogs and cats are euthanized. Spay and neuter programs are key to controlling the unwanted pet population, and current legislation aims to reduce over-breeding. A no-kill facility offers a home to healthy, abandoned pets. No clock ticks to count down the days remaining in a dog's life. Rather, an animal that comes to The Humane Society of the Desert remains here until a loving family is found. http://www.orphanpet.com

Elmbrook Humane Society - The mission of the Elmbrook Humane Society is to promote the human-animal bond through adoption and education, to provide shelter to homeless animals, and to prevent animal cruelty and neglect. Our goals are to work toward providing a temporary refuge for stray, homeless, and deserted animals and to place them in good homes,  to reduce the population of excess dogs and cats in Waukesha County and surrounding areas, to organize and conduct educational programs for the public in the humane care and treatment of animals., to reunite lost companion animals with their guardians, to partner with wildlife rehabilitation organizations to rescue, shelter, and treat wildlife. EBHS has service contracts with the City of Brookfield, Villages of Butler, Chenequa, Elm Grove, Nashotah and the Towns of Brookfield and Delafield. These contracts provide for taking unwanted pets and strays, and rescuing injured domestic animals and wildlife. The society supports the communities by requiring proof of licensing when individuals claim strays. EBHS has no geographic limits for adoptions. In addition, the Society will take releases from communities other than our contracted municipalities for a small release fee when, and if, space permits. EBHS has no deadline for the animals in its care. Animals are placed for adoption as long as they have an adoptable temperament, have reasonable health, and there is room at the shelter. EBHS is an Adoption Guarantee shelter with a 100% adoption rate for all healthy and adoptable animals.  This means that we are introducing new companion animals every day for you to view and adopt. In an effort to curb the number of unwanted and excess pets, all EBHS adopted animals are spayed or neutered before going to their new home. EBHS handles approximately 2500 wild and domestic animals on an annual basis. Additional animals are also placed through our referral program. http://www.ebhs.org

Husky Haven of Los Angeles, Inc. - Learn about the Siberian Husky and find out how to proceed with adopting. Dedicated to "Liberty Bell" Our first rescue-who showed us the way to all the GREAT Huskies in need. Before adopting Liberty, I was naive and unaware of the terrible situation of huge amounts of dogs and cats winding up in shelters either by being impounded off the streets by animal control or the astonishing amount of people giving up their animals. I had purchased my first 2 huskies at pet stores where they were flown in from mid-western puppy mills at a very young, inappropriate age. I had no idea this beautiful, intelligent breed that I adored could end up unwanted at animal shelters often living their last days there. I was under the misconception that only "bad" dogs were at pounds. The truth is the great majority of dogs at pounds have ended up there at no fault of their own at all--in fact, its their owners who are "bad". The 3 main reasons so many dogs/cats are unwanted is because of overpopulation, the owner's failure to research the breed they are interested in, and the owner's failure to seek guidance/training to resolve problems they are experiencing. These 3 main reasons can be rectified! Please spay/neuter your pets and encourage everyone you meet to do the same! Please do research on the breed you are interested in and really ask yourself if your family setting is the proper environment and you are willing to put forth the effort that this breed requires in order to be happy. Thirdly, be willing to seek advice and attend training classes with your dog in order to rectify problems you are experiencing. If these goals could be attained, we could all make a huge difference in the amount of unwanted pets. PLEASE HELP!!! --- PLEASE CHOOSE YOUR NEXT PET FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER OR A RESCUER! http://www.huskyhavenofla.org

Motley Zoo - Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is an official 501c3 non-profit corporation, foster- based animal rescue, assisting local, national, and international dogs and cats in need. We have no shelter facility. Instead, we house our rescue dogs with foster families where they enjoy one-on-one attention in a home environment, receiving training and support, while we work to find the best possible forever homes. Cats primarily are housed in our “cat condos” at a Petco location (currently the West Seattle location), through a joint effort. The cats are cared for daily by the employees of Petco, which includes allowing the pets out daily for supervised fun and play before, during, and after store hours. Other cats and kittens (underage and nursing moms) occasionaly have fosters available, but their adoptions proceed more quickly when they are in the public eye- so when they are well, or come of age they are moved to the condos. Unless the well being of the cat depends on it being housed in a foster home, Petco is our cat house, because we simply do not have enough foster homes available for cats. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is dedicated to improving the lives of animals locally, nationally and internationally; alleviating their suffering and elevating their status in society through the rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need and through the education of their community on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, advocating the value of all animal life, in hopes to end the neglect and abuse of all animals and to end the devastating pet overpopulation through spay and neuter advocacy. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue dedicates its work to end pet overpopulation and the resulting euthanization of healthy, adoptable pets, due to limited space and funds of our local, national, and international animal welfare organizations as well as working to end abuse and neglect of all animals resulting from lack of information and education of the community, all the while advocating the value of all animal life. http://motleyzoo.org
